About this tool

Understand the differences between personal loan types in Brazil.

Personal loan modalities vary significantly in rate. Consignado (payroll-deductible) has the lowest rates because default risk is minimal. FGTS-backed loans use the FGTS balance as collateral. CDC (Crédito Direto ao Consumidor) is used for consumer goods financing. Unsecured personal loans have the highest rates. This tool calculates installments using the PRICE system, includes IOF and estimates the CET.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

In consignado, installments are deducted directly from the payroll or INSS benefit, reducing risk for the bank and allowing much lower rates — typically 1%–2%/month vs 3%–7% for personal loans.
